is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist living in Geelong with her husband and three children.
Originally from Warrnambool, Kara began studying medicine at the University of Melbourne in 2002 and commenced her Obstetrics and Gynaecology career at the Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne in 2011.
Kara has done extra training in ultrasound in pregnancy, and has extensive experience in caring for women with complex pregnancies. This includes twin pregnancies, pregnancies at high risk of preterm birth, vaginal birth after caesarean, and pregnancy following previous pregnancy loss or birth trauma.
Kara has a passion for teaching and health communication. She is the co-founder of the podcast Pregnancy Uncut, a not-for-profit resource that explores the stories and experiences of women who have experienced complex or high risk pregnancies, with the aim to help families feel seen and heard in their pregnancy journeys.
Kara is a director of Berth Geelong, and provides comprehensive pregnancy and birth care at St John of God Hospital in Geelong. She is also a visiting specialist at the University Hospital Geelong.
Kara also enjoys providing pregnancy care at Wathaurong Aboriginal Health Service, and is a lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Deakin University School of Medicine.
Kara’s passion is providing pregnancy and birth care, with a focus on supporting women to make their own informed choices around their care and birth experiences.
